In 1874, Chr Hansen produced the first standardized animal rennet. Our enzymes have been used by the dairy industry ever since and are considered to be of the highest quality.

Thanks to widespread customer satisfaction, the company maintains a dominant presence in the animal rennet market while leading development of Fermentation-Produced Chymosins (FPC) and microbial coagulants. The launch of the second-generation FPC CHY-MAX® M in 2008 continues to revolutionize global cheese production through increased yield and quality.

In addition to coagulants, we offer a broad range of other enzymes to the dairy industry including Lactase, Lipase and bioprotective enzymes such as Lysozyme and Nisin. The company also markets and sells products developed as part of our alliance with global enzyme producer Novozymes. The alliance targets development of enzymes for increased cheese yield and whey value.
